But, I just want to lose weight!

On a warm sunny day in Madison, Wisconsin, I was sitting with a dear friend who knows of the empowering body positive work that I am doing. She asked me a question that was so good, I just thought I had to write about it. This is what she said (more or less). “I know you’re […]

I am a wild woman…

I am a wild woman.

My curly messy hair shoots out of my head like Medusa’s snakes. There is a fire in my belly and a rapture in my heart. I have strong shoulders to support your truth and big breasts for you to lay your head.

Rebel Wellness Woman

What is Rebel Body Confidence?

I am a rebel.

I have body confidence.

In an age where we are bombarded with thousands of messages daily telling us how broken, ugly and imperfect we are, having body confidence makes you a rebel, a warrior, a goddess, a lighthouse.

I’m kind of a big deal…

Today, a tall beautiful curly-haired goddess approached me after yoga class and told me that she read my blog. And has been reading for awhile. I can’t even begin to tell you the thrill I felt, knowing that she read my words. Even though I know several of you are out there, I still feel shocked when people come up to me and tell me they’ve read my articles. It will never get old.

How to Love Mondays

I love Mondays. I am the anti-Garfield. I wish every day had the energy and excitement of Monday.

It wasn’t always this way. I used to go to bed on Sunday dreading waking up on Monday morning and going back to the grind. I used to get terrible tension headaches on Mondays as I looked ahead to all the “things” I needed to accomplish. Overwhelm City, Arizona.

Then I discovered something amazing.

How to Tell the Difference Between Self-Trust and Self-Protection

I often feel like there are two different parts of me, one that knows the truth about what’s in my highest good, and one that knows exactly what to say to keep me safe and small. For illustrative purposes, let’s call my truth Gracie and my protector Vivian. These two are fighting for my attention like Mayweather and Pacquiao. As brutally, but not as gracefully as championship boxers. More like a slap fight between self-trust and self-protection.

What High Self-Esteem Feels Like

She walks into the room with her shoulders held back and her heart leading the way. She’s dressed in a simple dress and her hair is pulled back from her face. Her eyes light up with a twinkle when you look at her and smile. She is warm and inviting.

How To Get Unstuck

We all get stuck. We all find ourselves doing things we really don’t want to be doing. We all find ourselves NOT doing the things that mean the most to us.

Why does this happen? What can we do about it?

Let me tell you a little story. I got stuck about my monthly newsletter. Ridiculously paralyzed. Those of you on my list know that you haven’t heard a whole lot from me in awhile. “Didn’t I sign up to hear something from her once upon a time?” you may have asked.

Yes, you signed up. Then I got scared.

Showing Up For Someone Today

The last few weeks have been a bit of a doozy for me, and I’m happy to report that the stress has vibrated through me and I’m back to finding some brightness, playfulness and fun.  The main reason for this turn around is that I was given a bowl of soup.

Leaving the Self-Help Section Behind

I am a life coach. I survive on a healthy diet of books, tapes, webinars, and Super Soul Sunday. I have spent millions of dollars over the course of my life trying to figure out who the hell I am, and what my true purpose in life is. I have been uncovering my “authentic self.” Yesterday, I had an epiphany.

I just may murder the next person who says “authentic self.” I am totally over self-help.
